The 137m tall obelisk shaped historical monument is situated in Merdeka square - Central Jakarta.

Monas / National Monument is symbol of Jakarta. Built during Soekarno's presidency, and opened for public on 12 July 1975, the top part of the tower is a 14.5 meter bronze flame coated with 32 kilograms of gold.

So what can visitors do or see at Monas?

  1. Visitors can go up to a platform at 115 meters height for viewing Jakarta city areas surrounding Monas.
  2. Visitors can enter a Museum depicting the Indonesia's History starting from the days when Indonesia was still in the form of empires.
  3. Visitors can enter the Independence Hall.
  4. Enjoy the musical water fountain - available on Saturdays and Sundays at 19:30 and 20:30.
  5. Seeing deer at Meda Merdeka park.
  6. The Indonesian History is also depicted in Reliefs, each with explanation.
  7. Wanna eat? Enjoy foods at Lenggang Jakarta.
  8. 4 Futsal yards, 1 volleyball yard, and 1 basketball yard can be used free of cost by visitors.
  9. At pasar malam (night market) visitors can buy various Jakarta's Souvenirs.
